The Power of Social Media

When the storm hit, a pro guitarist, who's played Madison Square Garden as a gig, looked me straight in the eye, and said, "Keep moving forward if you have something they want to steal."

With the power of social media that exists today, I decided to post my story. See where it will lead. Deep inside, I'd like to know: who wrote "Mixed Emotions;" the full interaction of Osman Eralp - with the band and the Atlantic Records label; and the complete story on how the song came to be.

© 1988 "Not the Only One." The song "Mixed Emotions" - written in 1989 - made the Stones over $60 million USD on the Steel Wheels tour following its release. Had proper writing credit been given - with the rewards and success that come with participating in a succcessful song - I'm sure music careers - including mine and my cowriter - might be further along on this rocky road in the music biz.

Soon after this happened in 1989, I saw a music lawyer. His comment: "You must prove access. No-one will touch this case otherwise." For $20K, he'd start a legal investigation. No money. No justice. Welcome to America - Land of Opportunity.

Started Liquid Fusion (R) Records - Since 2000 - to help talented NYC musicians / Artists have a chance to do what they love: Make music!! Pre-Myspace / Facebook / SoundCloud.

Liquid Fusion (R) Band - since 1993 - rock - acoustic - blues - recording / songwriting w/ various Artists / Writers.

Atlantic Records Jan 3,1989

"They've never taken someone off the street before like this." With these words, I was rushed by Linda Calandra down a long hall - covered floor to ceiling with gleaming gold records - to the President's office at Atlantic Records. There, Osman Eralp told me a major English rock band wanted to use our song "Not the Only One" as their Reunion theme song. He didn't reveal the band. Did they have our permission?

You're in the dark: infront of you stands the door of incredible opportunity. They already have your song. If song theft is going to happen, nothing you can do now. Keep it upbeat. It's the real deal. What would you say?

I answered, "Yes. Of course!!"

Atlantic Records earlier in the day had called my songwriting cowriter - Rob Visciano - we had agreed, as I was closer to their midtown offices, I'd go to my studio, grab a demo, then head over to the Atlantic HQ at 75 Rockefeller Plaza.

Leaving the meeting, I asked Ms Calandra to sign her name on official Atlantic Records stationary - so I could prove I was there. This bookmark is from when I was there. It has her handwriting as well as mine from that fateful day.
